Giant latex vs. PVC advertising balloons
Two ways to put a very large balloon over your site. Here is which one fits how you will use it.
The short answer
Choose giant latex for a single day or weekend: it is helium-filled, lasts about a day and is the cheaper route. Choose giant PVC if you will use the balloon again and again across a season, because it is reusable, air-inflated and folds into a bag. Get Custom Balloons makes both in 3ft, 5ft and 8ft with your full logo and copy. See the giant advertising balloons.
Side by side
| Giant latex | Giant PVC | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A scaled-up party balloon: soft, round, helium-filled | A heavier, seamed, reusable balloon inflated with air |
| Sizes | 3ft, 5ft and 8ft | 3ft, 5ft and 8ft |
| Inflation | Helium | Air, on a tether or a blower |
| Lifespan | A day or so | Reusable across a full season |
| Large-format, full logo and copy | Large-format, full logo and copy | |
| Tethering | Three-point, supplied | Three-point, supplied |
| Storage | Single use | Folds into a supplied bag |
| Cost approach | The cheaper route up front | Higher up front, spread over repeated use |
| Best for | One-day sales, launches and openings | Dealerships, retail parks and recurring events |
When giant latex is the right call
Giant latex behaves like a scaled-up party balloon: helium-filled, a day or so of life, and a soft round shape. It suits a one-day sale, a launch or an opening where the balloon has done its job by the evening, and it keeps the upfront cost down. If the event repeats weekly you will be replacing it, which is where PVC starts to make sense.
When giant PVC is the right call
Giant PVC is heavier and seamed, and it is inflated with air on a tether or a blower rather than helium. That makes it the reusable option: good for repeated use across a full season, and it folds away into the supplied bag between uses. Dealerships and retail parks that want one visible marker every weekend usually land here. Custom balloons for car dealerships covers how that works on a lot.
Wind, tethering and safety
The practical constraint at this size is wind rather than material. Anything this big needs proper tethering at three points, which is supplied, and should come down in strong gusts. Get Custom Balloons will say so plainly rather than sell a balloon that ends up in somebody’s car park. For smaller decor or giveaway balloons, see the latex, foil and bubble comparison.
The verdict
Pick giant latex for a one-off day or weekend where the balloon is the landmark and upfront cost matters most.
Pick giant PVC for a site or programme that will fly the balloon repeatedly across a season.
